Tried but Denied
Banana Screen - face recognition and pc locking device - This was definitely cool software but it takes a while to recognize the face, which makes it slightly impractical for users who don’t need such tight security. A typed password works OK for me. I can see this being of great use for people in a wheel chair or something. It is definitely advanced and well written software and I’m surprised to see it as freeware but happy it is out there too. It certainly deserves a look and who knows, I may find something I can use it for some day. I learned of Banana Screen from a Lifehacker article. JetStart is a product from Code Sector and is an application launcher with a search facility. It works alright but maintenance and setup seemed to take a lot of work and it was very heavy on resources. It’s GUI had a 80’s look about it. I’m not as hot on Launchy, since I found out about the internet connections it requires but for now Launchy is still my pick. However, it is nice to have JetStart (and others) as a backup.
